For India our newest Trainee, joining the Westerhill Homes sales team was the perfect match for her skill-set, and her love of meeting and working with customers.
Having previously completed a Retail Customer Service Apprenticeship with a leading High Street retailer and progressing to the role of Supervisor, she realised she wasn’t on the right career path and was keen to move into a different industry.
With family members and friends working in construction and new homes sales, joining a new homes developer seemed to offer India what she was looking for. She could expand her customer service experience and develop her sales skills whilst learning about a new industry.
India joined Westerhill Homes this summer as a Trainee Sales Executive, working alongside her trainer, on a large Westerhill In Partnership development in Coxheath. She is learning ‘on-the-job’ through a specifically designed training program which includes weekly tasks such as learning about the different parts of her role: customer service, product knowledge, the legal buying process, specification, customer choices, financial referrals and how to understand plans and the build process. She is seeing the process through from the customers first visit to the development to the day the move in.
India’s training will take approximately 6 months; she will then be evaluated and if she is successful will then become a fully-fledged Site Sales Executive.
India says “ I really wanted to find a career path where I could see myself progressing. Joining Westerhill Homes as a Trainee Sales Executive has been so rewarding. I have a great trainer who is incredibly supportive and has been willing to share all her knowledge about the job with me. I am now dealing with customers by myself and my confidence and knowledge are increasing. I love being able to talk to customers and am looking forward to doing my first completion when one of my customers moves in to their new home. There is great job satisfaction in this role, and I even love going out on to the site and getting my boots dirty too! I want to build a career in new homes sales; this is a great way to start building up my knowledge so that I can progress my career with a new homes developer who believes in quality of their product and a high level of customer service’.
