When Graham and Wendy decided to down-size, they were originally thinking of staying closer to some of their family in central east Kent, so it’s surprising to be talking to them in their new home at Pebble Gate Place in Sandwich, on the Kent coast!
A chance mention by a friend, who had seen Pebble Gate Place advertised, encouraged them to visit the area and the development, which then changed everything.
Having lived further north in the county, in the charming village of Charing near Ashford for nearly twenty years, they hadn’t had a coastal move on their radar, but decided to take a trip out to Sandwich and see if it would suit them.
Visiting the development, they decided to reserve a plot, but on reflection agreed that another style would suit them even better. The Slate, is a double-fronted 3 bedroom home, and Wendy & Graham felt the layout and size, and the fact that it was detached and on a smaller development, was perfect for their needs.
Discovering that Sandwich is a friendly, compact, and attractive historic town sealed the deal. Graham says, ‘We were delighted to find a place which we felt we could easily fit in with, there are level walks to the town centre and river, a great range of independent shops, easy access to the station and bus service; it really suits our lifestyle.’
Moving into their new home has, in Wendy’s words ‘Felt like coming home. We haven’t even had to try and make this feel like our home, and it’s so nice to come home to. My favourite place is the Kitchen/Dining Room, with the French doors open and the sun shining in, it’s such an airy and bright space’.
Graham was also keen to tell us that he thinks the Westerhill Homes specification is a ‘cut above’ our competitors. He says ‘We had looked at other new homes and were staggered to find that we would need to spend a large amount on top of the house price, to include some items which we wanted. When we came to Pebble Gate Place it was really impressive that so much was already included. I love to cook, so having a Kitchen with additional appliances and beautiful Italian units, makes it an even nicer place to be. All the other specifications make this a home for us to stay in long term, and we aren’t planning on moving any-time soon.’
‘The house is impressive and the layout is well thought out, it’s difficult when you are downsizing as you don’t know what you need, until you know what you need, but we feel it’s been a great move for us’, said Wendy.
‘Our grandchildren have visited us, and they love being able to go to the beach and Sandwich Bay. We were thrilled when Westerhill Homes gave us a free years’ toll road pass to access the private estate, we’ll definitely be carrying it on for next year, says Graham’.
The final homes at Pebble Gate Place are now being sold, boasting many energy efficient specifications, and include carpets, ceramic tiled floors to the Kitchen and wet rooms, turf to the rear garden, appliances and beautiful ceramic wall tiles and sanitaryware by leading brands Porcelanosa and Roca.
